Paris terror raid

Ongoing raid by police St Denis in Paris.  An apartment where was believed to be where the terrorists that attacked on Friday were residing was raided, leaving 3 suspected terrorists dead, 5 under arrest and a female suicide bomber blew herself up. At least 5 policemen were injured and a police dog allegedly died during the raid. Abdelhamid Abaaoud who is said to be the mastermind behind Friday's attacks is a major target of the raid.

Bomb blast in Yola

An explosion has hit Jambutu bypass in the Jimeta area of Yola, the Adamawa State capital in north east Nigeria at around 8pm.
There are reports that the explosion was set off by a suicide bomber.Unconfirmed report says about 28 people have died from the blast. No terrorist group has taken responsibility for the incident.

President Buhari launched an Anchor Borrowers Programme

Nigeria has launched an Anchor Borrowers Programme for rice and wheat farmers to advance their status from small holder farmers to commercial or large growers.

At the launch of the programme in Kebbi State on Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed optimism that the CBN Anchor Borrowers Programme had a potential of creating millions of jobs and lifting thousands of small holder farmers out of poverty.

Biafra protests

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Dan Ali, has warned that the current wave of pro-Biafra agitations in parts of the South-East of the country may escalate and constitute threat to national unity.
“Nigeria is currently facing many indices of destabilization,” the Minister said yesterday when he resumed duties at the Ship House, headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Abuja.
According to him, the Federal Government in collaboration with what he described as stakeholders

 Six coordinated attacks took place in Paris yesterday. At least 153 killed in Paris at Saint Denis. Three blasts goes off outside France' National Stadium, during a match between France and Germany, 4 people are allegedly killed from the bomb attack. At least 112 people killed at Paris concert hall, 100 hostages were brought out of the hall.

Sierra Leone free from Ebola!!!


World Health Organization (WHO)  has declared Sierra Leone free of Ebola, it was confirmed after a 42 day incubation period of the last person infected with Ebola was tested and the results came out negative. Sierra Leone had their first case in 2014 and have since been battling the virus. 8,704 person were infected with Ebola in Sierra Leone and 3,589 have died from it.

Taraba State Election Tribunal

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Taraba on Saturday nullified the election of Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku, of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and a Minister designate, Aisha Alhassan, as the winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state.
The three-member tribunal held that Mr. Ishaku was not validly nominated as candidate of the PDP and therefore did not qualify, from start, to contest the governorship election.

Nigeria listed among top five migrant countries to EU

Nigeria has been listed among the top five migrant countries to Europe. The most populous black nation in the world is only behind Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Eritrea.
According to the European Commission, three million migrants who are fleeing war and poverty are expected to enter the EU by 2017, a development likely to have a marginal positive impact on the economy of the continent.
Syria accounts for 53 per cent of the migrants and is followed by Afghanistan with 18 per cent while Iraq who is placed third accounts for six per cent. (PM News)

Baby survives South Sudan plane crash

A 14-month old baby girl who survived Wednesday's plane crash in South Sudan's capital, Juba, is now conscious, doctors say.
The girl is being treated at the city's teaching hospital and is able to recognise relatives, journalist Philip Mabior from Juba's Eye Radio reports.
At least 36 people died after the plane crashed on take-off near Juba airport.
The cause of the crash remains unclear but the manufacturer said the cargo plane was not airworthy.

 Medview Airline, yesterday announced that she has received license from the United Kingdom (UK) and Nigerian governments to commence direct flight operations from Lagos to London.
